A choose-your-own-adventure, cinematic storytelling, horror game reminiscent of a 70’s slasher summer camp movie, each playthrough randomizes the killer, who can you trust?

In this choose-your-own-adventure game, you will be playing through an interactive story. But the story will change with each playthrough. What does this mean? The killer(s) will not be the same when you replay the game.  The goal of this is to have players intrigued and bewildered as they will never know who the killer is or what choices they may be able to make.

This game takes a lot of inspiration from Until Dawn and Life is Strange.

Here are some of the game loops:
1. Watch the scene -> make a choice -> repeat

2. Explore the world -> walk around a new area -> trigger next scene -> repeat

3. Start game -> make new choices -> discover new details -> repeat

Reflection on my demo:

1. Is it representative of the core loop you wanted?

- From the feedback I got from the demo and my thoughts, I think that the demo is representative of my core game loop. The main loop that I was going for was game loop #3 (above). There were three decision trees that you played through and each of them have slightly different branching options.

2. Did it give you an answer to the question you posed, and if so, what is the answer?

- It definitely answered my question, which was "Is the player interested in the changing options given in a new playthrough?" Through the playtest, it answered my question, which was "Yes."

3. How would you change it, if at all?

- From the feedback that I received, I would make the visuals more refined, there was a bit of confusion that came from the look of the visuals. So, to make the story clearer and to not cause confusion, I would have more polished visuals.

4. Where would you take the idea next?

- Next, I would expand the decision trees in order to create more interesting, branching paths and give me more room to create a story. Speaking about the story, I would want to add a plot to this game, I would love to introduce characters and set up the plot of this so the viewers understand where the story is going.
